Mobile devices are currently equipped with general purpose sensors such as GPS, compass, accelerometer, and gyroscope. On the other hand, there are no mobile devices with the ability to connect to other kinds of sensors for custom applications. This technology fills this gap by proposing a simple platform for connecting a wide variety of sensors to smart phones/tablets, enabling their use in totally new application fields.
